The Difference You Will Make: You will have the opportunity to work in our experienced engineering and design team while supporting the project team in establishing the basis of design, communicating and coordinating with the client and other design partners, and delivering a quality product that you can be proud of. As the Senior Process Plumbing Designer, you will be a critical resource that develops construction plumbing plans, including design drawings and details, construction specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects. Your technical leadership and mentoring capabilities will be relied upon to guide other team members and assure total quality of all engineering efforts.

A Typical Day/Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft process plumbing systems, including waste, vent, supply, RO/DI, industrial gas, process flow diagrams & P&ID diagrams, using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.

  • Understanding of building process systems and associated distribution piping for argon, deionized water, process cooling water, nitrogen, oxygen, helium, carbon tetrafluoride, compressed dry air, general house exhaust system, acid exhaust system, process waste drains and dust collection.

  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure coordination of plumbing systems with other building systems.

  • Analyze project requirements, codes, and regulations to develop compliant and efficient plumbing solutions.

  • Prepare detailed plumbing layouts, schematics, and construction documents for approval and construction.

  • Perform calculations and sizing of pipes, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with industry standards and local codes.

  • Develop and maintain accurate records of plumbing system design changes and updates.

  • Participate in project meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and expectations.

  • Provide technical support during construction phases and assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving on-site issues.

  • Stay current with industry trends, plumbing technologies, and code updates to ensure designs are innovative and compliant.

  • Review drawings and submittals, respond to RFI’s, and perform site visits as needed.

About You: (Your Expertise):

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in plumbing design, preferably in MEP design/consulting engineering environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software required.

  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IPC, UPC, ASPE).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, specifications, and manuals.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • LEED accreditation and familiarity with sustainable plumbing design practices (preferred).

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
